The march to the White House for President Obama all started rolling with the words hope and change. He talked about transparency, doing things differently, fundamentally changing the way our government works. You know what? There isn’t anyone who can deny that they want our government to work differently. We have corruption, lobbyists, not getting the real truth, and no accountability. So, what changed? Nothing as far as I can tell.
Most recently with the health care debate for instance, you have town halls with obvious planted questions. I mean it’s always happened. The tough questions that I keep hearing nobody asks during these; At least not on the presidential ones. I’ve seen clips on YouTube and other various channels that show town halls with congressmen, etc. They show people that are angry, confused, and some are plain scared.
I recently saw a two part town hall with Tim Bishop. He kept using the phrase “I understand you are angry”. Does he? If he understands then why does he support the policies? Why does he vote for these policies like cap and trade or health care reform?
It just seems to me like they all think they have a free pass now, doesn’t it? This isn’t just a President level deal, it’s the whole government now. Even over the weekend Arlen Specter said “we have to make fast decisions” on these thousand page bills. I think I read somewhere that another congressman said “what’s the point?” in reading the bill if it’s over 1,000 pages.
You know what, I don’t care if you don’t read the bill as long as you can explain to me why it’s good, why it might be bad, and guarantee me that there isn’t anything hidden. Unfortunately, nobody can do that in this congress and administration. It’s ready, shoot, aim.
You were all given power by the people based on the fact you were going to change the way things operate. The government is operating the same, the only difference is you are just implementing your specific agendas and not even explaining to the people what is happening. People are angry because they don’t understand. What are you doing to fix that? How are you helping everyone understand that a new health care system will be better than the old? If you can’t explain it to us and make us understand without political nonsense, you are not doing a good job and should not vote for it.
